Your Winter Haircare Routine Sorted!
As the cold snap approaches and the festivities begin, t'is the season for styling! As our skin gets drier during these chillier months, so will our hair. But fear not, we've compiled a list of top tips to perfect your winter haircare regime right into the new year and beyond!
- Firstly, we recommend using a gentle shampoo and conditioner: The cold weather can strip moisture from your hair, and washing your hair too frequently can further dry it out. Instead of washing your hair daily, try to wash it every other day or even just a few times a week. Look for products that are sulfate-free and contain moisturizing ingredients such as argan oil or shea butter. Check out the Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner 500ml for a fabulous sulfate-free option!
- Avoid hot water. Using water that's too hot can strip moisture from your hair, leaving it dry and brittle. When washing your hair in the winter, it's best to use lukewarm water.
- Protect your hair from the cold! The cold air outside can cause damage to hair, so it's vital to protect it. Wear a hat or scarf to cover your hair outdoors, and try to avoid exposing your hair to the cold for long periods of time.
- Deep condition your hair: Dry, brittle hair is more likely to break, so it's important to keep your hair moisturized during the winter months. Use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week to help nourish and moisturize your hair, such as the Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Moisture Nutritive Mask 200ml, which contains a Nutri-Sugar Complex to optimise hydration levels in the hair shaft.
- Use a heat protectant when using styling tools. Hot tools such as hair dryers and curling irons, can further dry out your hair and cause damage. Try to limit your use of heat styling tools in the winter, and if you do use them, be sure to apply a heat protectant spray first, such as the Moroccanoil Perfect Defense 225ml (Heat Protection)
- Avoid washing your hair too often: The cold weather can strip moisture from your hair, and washing your hair too frequently can further dry it out. Instead of washing your hair daily, try to wash it every other day or even just a few times a week.
- Use a leave-in conditioner: A leave-in conditioner like the Moroccanoil All in One Leave in Conditioner 160ml can help add moisture to your hair and protect it from the cold. Apply a leave-in conditioner after washing your hair, and use it throughout the day as needed to keep your hair moisturized.
- Avoid brushing your hair when it's wet: Wet hair is more vulnerable to damage, so it's best to avoid brushing it when it's wet. Instead, use a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle your hair before washing it.
- Consider using a hair oil: Hair oils, such as argan oil or coconut oil, can help nourish and protect your hair in the winter. Apply a small amount of hair oil to your hair before washing it, or use it as a leave-in treatment to help keep your hair moisturized. We love the Kerastase Elixir Ultime 100ml.
- Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help keep your hair healthy and moisturized. Aim to drink at least eight glasses of water a day to help keep your hair and scalp hydrated.
