How to Curl Your Hair With A Straightener
Want party perfect curls? Here at AllHair.ie, we're here to show you how to create everything from relaxed, beachy waves to Hollywood curls with our handy how-to guide on curling your hair with a straightener!
First, make sure your hair is clean and dry. If your hair is freshly washed, you may want to wait a few hours or blow dry it before starting. Divide your hair into sections. The size of the sections will depend on the thickness and length of your hair, but a good rule of thumb is to divide your hair into 2-inch sections.
Take one section of hair and place the straightener at the base, near your scalp. We recommend the LΓ³real Steampod V3 White With Free Paddle Brush! Slowly glide the straightener down the length of your hair in 1-5cm sections and gently turn the straightener as you go to create a curl. Repeat this process on all sections of your hair until you have the desired amount of curl.
Once you have finished curling your hair, you can use your fingers or a brush to style and shape the curls. You can also use hair spray or other styling products to help your curls hold their shape. We recommend a firm favourite, the Alfaparf Style Stories Original Hairspray, which will hold your style without stiffening the hair, as well as adding shine and gloss.
It's important to remember that using a straightener can damage your hair, so it's best to use a heat protectant spray such as the Joico Defy Damage Protective Shield 50ml before starting and to not use the straightener too often. It's also a good idea to use a lower heat setting and to avoid using the straightener on wet or damp hair.
